CAS in European and International Issues
Beginning in the Spring of 2015
The CAS in European and International Issues in a Global Context is a joint initiative of the Centre d’études juridiques européennes (CEJE), Faculty of Law, University of Geneva, and the Global Studies institute (GSI), University of Geneva. It is a trainging program incorporated within the Geneva International studies. The Professors managing the program are Christine Kaddous, Nicolas Levrat, Julia Xoudis and Céline Carrère.
Curriculum
The CAS offers a basic and specialized training on European and International issues in a global context. It aims at raising the awareness and knowledge of the participants on these issues, while providing the necessary theoretical and practical information that may be of use in the participants’ day to day professional activities. The curriculum of the program covers theoretical and practical aspects of a number of topics such as Migration, Human Rights, International Trade, Environment, Energy and Health.
Target groups
The CAS shall address a group of approximately fifteen participants, for the most part officials of International Organizations and diplomatic, consular and NGO staff. The number of participants may increase in future editions of the program.
Place
The courses included in the curriculum of the CAS will be taught in English at the University of Geneva. Visits to the International Organisations based in Geneva and Brussels will also be organised.
Training modules and Research Paper
The CAS corresponds to 15 study credits. The courses comprised in the curriculum of the latter are divided in training modules. In addition to exam sessions, the participants will also write Research Papers at the end of their training. The duration of the program is of a minimum of two, and a maximum of fours semestres. The high quality of the courses is guaranteed by Professors from Swiss, European and International Universities, High International Organisation Officials, EU and Suiss Confederation Officials and practicing lawyers.
